GLP-1 MUSCLE PROTECTION

The weight you are losing, is it fat?

Without structured training and targeted protein, a significant portion of weight lost on GLP-1 medication is muscle. This page addresses that directly.

EVOLVE FIT is a performance and nutrition coaching service. Aida Esfanjani does not prescribe medication, adjust dosing, or provide medical advice. This coaching works alongside your medical care — not instead of it. Always consult your prescribing doctor regarding your medication.

THE PROBLEM

GLP-1 medication works.
But not alone.

Mounjaro, Ozempic and Wegovy create a calorie deficit through appetite suppression. The problem: without sufficient protein and structured resistance training, a significant portion of the weight lost is lean muscle — not fat.

This matters because muscle drives your metabolism, protects your joints, and is extraordinarily difficult to rebuild once lost. The EVOLVE GLP-1 protocol was built to prevent this.

Protein: 2.0–2.4g/kg bodyweight. Higher than standard Track A — appetite suppression creates a deficit even when effort is present.

No deficit over −200 kcal. The medication is already creating a deficit. Adding more is counterproductive.

Three structured meals daily. Even on low-hunger days. Meal timing is programmed, not left to appetite.

Volume reduced 20% weeks 1–3. No HIIT before week 5. The programme adapts to the energy variation of GLP-1 use.

Creatine, electrolytes, magnesium. Embedded from day one — not added reactively when problems appear.

Energy flag system. Three days below 3/5 triggers an immediate protocol review — within 24 hours.

CLIENT STORY

Nadia, 38. On Mounjaro for four months.

She had lost 11kg. But she felt progressively weaker, more fatigued, and her gym performance had collapsed. Her appetite was so suppressed she was eating under 800 calories without realising it. She needed a protocol — not more information.

By week 12: hip thrust 45kg → 78kg. Deadlift 50kg → 72kg. Body fat reduced by 4.2%. The weight loss continued — but the muscle loss stopped. For the first time in a year, she described herself as feeling strong.

"I was scared I was losing muscle and no one could tell me what to do about it. This gave me a specific answer — not general advice, an actual protocol built for my situation."
